Welcome to Living Stones the educational arm of St Mary the Virgin, Iffley, Oxford. Its programmes are designed to celebrate the history and purpose of one of the finest surviving Romanesque parish churches in all England with its awe-inspiring architecture and carvings, many of which are as fresh today as when they were carved c. 1160.
Through activities, events or self-guided, Living Stones programmes offer visitors of all ages and abilities a glimpse into the lives and efforts of the people who created this splendid church 850 years ago.
When you come to St Mary’s you will be visiting a place of pilgrimage and host to a large, vibrant worshipping community who are determined to share their history with you, to help the stones tell you their story.
