A stone-carving demonstration in the churchyard.

Royse Murphy, stone carver, is throwing himself into supporting Living Stones again! He will be working with his chisels, hammers and mallet in the churchyard at St Mary’s, Iffley, from 11.15 to 1.30 on Sunday 10th June. As on his first visit here, he will set up his bench inside the church gateway. You won’t be able to miss him as you walk past!

Today he is working on slate carvings for stations of the cross. The slate is carved and polished, then mounted on beech with bronze resin inlay Haikus. He is using the traditional forms but relating them to current concerns.
