Families and Children are always welcome at St Mary’s Church, but you may specially enjoy our ACTIVITY DAYS.
These give you a chance to explore the church and its setting at your own pace, whether you are 2, 102 or anywhere in between.
You will be able to discover secrets in the churchyard with the aid of a Children’s Trail and our enthusiastic volunteers. Find the oldest yew tree in Oxfordshire, a just-opened wildflower, the shadow of a doorway and an 850-year-old winged lion – and lots more.
You can experience aspects of life in Norman Iffley through a choice of craft activities in the village hall. Make your own Norman monster in clay, play with a brand-new model of the church, dress up as a Norman and eat ‘Norman’ goodies!
You will find both calm and excitement in the church. Look for a tiny bird flying from its nest, a dragon, nine sheep, three rabbits. Look, too, for four of the original consecration crosses from 1160 and the new pewter and glass cover made in 2012 to protect the great Norman font.
Follow a detective trail, soak up the atmosphere, and consult a volunteer guide. See the Events Diary
